MUST HAVE BOOTS AT TARGET

 

I've been looking for riding boots for a while, and the fashion gods finally smiled down on me while I was strolling around Target. I discovered the Kathy Riding Boots by Merona. I was a tad hesitant about the quality, but I was shocked and awed by the geniune faux leather. It didn't look cheap and cheesy at all. They're so cute and comfortable that I ran like a thief in the night to the check out counter. These are basic will have them forever type boots, every stylista should own a pair. At $36.99 you can't beat em especially compared to $130 or more you'd pay at J Crew or Aldo. I've worn them with skinny jeans and think they'd look super chic with dresses and skirts. The weird thing about the Kathy boots is they run really big by a 1/2 to full size. I usually wear 8 1/2 and I got a 7 1/2...perfect fit go figure. My friend who's a complete shoe freak also got a pair too. Check out Target online cause the stores are selling out fast! TIS THE SEASON FOR A SEQUIN SKIRT

 

If you wana rock around the Christmas tree in style for the holidays, get a saucy black sequin skirt. It's the ultimate in yuletide glamour. It adds just the right amount of sassiness without looking like a disco ball. A sequin skirt also looks fab in red or gold. I usually wear either mini or knee length, nothing longer unless you've got an invite to the Oscars. Mine is always lost in the mail. I throw on a fitted top with my sequin skirt and you can't tell me I'm not a star. The thing to remember when wearing sequins is it can easily add volume to your frame. So you don't wanna add a lot of big jackets or voluminous tops. Throw on a fitted velvet jacket or a simple silk top. A sequin skirt is one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. You can wear it with heels, boots, or even nice flats. I love it with a round toe patent leather 3 1/2 heel. My style twin rocks hers with flat boots, a V-neck white tee, and a long cardigan. Tres' chic indeed. Keep it simple for holiday festivities to avoid the dreaded black bar across your eyes with the stamp "Fashion Don't"! I can't wait for all the holiday parties that will most likely cause my hands to tremble with a razor to my wrist, but I'll look gorgeous in my chic sequin skirt.

PEARLS BY CAROL'S DAUGHTER

 

I was in my happy place (Sephora) the other day and discovered Pearls by Carol's Daughter. It's their first fragrance and it's the absolute girlie girl scent. It's a sweet and elegant floral fragrance that beguiles, rather than overwhelm. I was completely enchanted by the uber feminine scent and couldn't resist a quick spritz. Love it! It kinda reminds me of Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. Pearls envelopes you with notes of vanilla, bergamot, anise, jasmine, verbena, and peach. For $45 at Sephora, someone is definitely getting this perfume for Christmas and/or Kwanzaa, or maybe I'll keep it for myself. Okay, that's selfish but it's that alluring. Mark my words, Pearls will become a timeless classic!

VIOLET EYESHADOW FOR FALL 2008

The color du jour for our lovely eyes this season is purple eyeshadow. In all its various hues from lilac to plum this color looks amazing on all skin tones. I covet Parfait Amour by MAC cosmetics, that each time I wear it everyone asks where I got it. It's truly heavenly! Purple eyeshadow is super easy to wear. All you need is just a sweep of color across your eyes. If you want to go more dramatic, you can wear it just below your eyeline. It kinda gives you a soft sultry vampy look without over doing it. Pretty much every cosmetic line as a shade of violet in their collection to fit any budget. From Cover Girl to Bobbi Brown it's out there. Especially, for the holidays a touch of purple haze on your peepers would be gorgeous with any ensemble!

ADD A LITTLE COLOR WITH BETTY BEAUTY

My fellow fashionistas have you heard about Betty Beauty? Well, as their slogan says, "it's color for the hair down there." That is off the scales genius with a splash of insanity. The eyebrow raising color kits come in black, brown, auburn, blonde, and pink their biggest seller. The dyes are totally free of ammonia and made with natural ingredients to prevent irritations below the belt. With Brazilian bikini waxing being all the rage, I wonder just how much is left to color within the lines or do you resort to paint by numbers. If you're medium-to dark complexion some of these colors will not be complementary. Remember the "Sex and the City" episode where Samantha tried to match the drapes with the rug and ended up having a Bozo the clown situation "down there." LOL when your watching a t-v show, but for reals I'd be in some sorta beauty coma trying to figure out how to correct my Ugly Betty. I suppose it could be a fun experiment to spice up your relationship. I kinda don't mind the natural colors, but the hot pinks and Irish greens is a tad avant garde for me. At $14.99 Betty Beauty is worth the risk to try something new down below. There's even Holiday Betty colors in Lucky Betty (green) and Love Betty (red). They even have stencils, yep stencils!

RIHANNA'S NEW GUCCI AD

Here's a look at the new Gucci ads featuring pop princess Rihanna as their spokeswoman for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). You won't be able to miss the "Tattoo Heart" campaign  featuring the 20-year old singer, all the magazine ads will begin in December 2008. Campaign director Frida Giannini said Rihanna's "strong personality" was a good fit for the cause, because "a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign." Rihanna will front Gucci's Tattoo Heart range of products and 25% of all profits made from the line will be donated to the children's charity. Now quit reading my blog and get out there and vote!!

EVA MENDES GETS IN BED WITH MACY'S

Bombshell Eva Mendes' bedding line Vida is finally in stores. The alluring actress and design partner George Augusto have created comfy sheets, bedskirts, shams etc. for Macy's customers. I can't believe Eva Mendes is designing bed linens, go figure...why not the obligatory celebrity clothing line. Well, Ms. Mendes passion for home design was inspired by her Cuban-American heritage. “I grew up in a working class family,” she says. “The sofa didn’t match the love seat. And the dining room table and chairs didn’t match. I was constantly trying to make the house beautiful for my mom. I would paint the apartment different colors.” The four piece 300 thread count comforter sets are vibrant and reasonably priced for the budget conscious. “I want beautiful design at an affordable price, so that people who don’t really have that much can live beautifully.” It would be interesting to see if Eva actually rolls around on her Vida collection instead of 1000 thread count Frette sheets. Just a thought...
