My fellow fashionistas one of the original grand divas
Eartha Kitt passed away today
(Dec. 25) at the age of 81. The Emmy winner died of colon cancer in New York with her only daughter by her side. The multi-talented icon was known for her raspy voice and purring like a cat. Who could forget her purr-fectly divine role as Catwoman on the sixties T-V show "Batman." Kitt was the quintessential star of stage and screen. She made me laugh as Lady Eloise in the classic hit "Boomerang."
"Marrrrr-cuuussss, I'm not wearing any panties" was one of the best lines in the entire film. It was a small part but Kitt made it absolutely unforgettable! During her early career, she dared to take chances in a time when women of color were relegated to being maids. Eartha Kitt dreamed and dreamed big to become one of the world's most adventurous singer/actresses of her generation. She has left an indelible mark on the world stage and will not be soon forgotten. Ironically, her naughty but nice Christmas standard "Santa Baby" was certified gold last week according to Billboard.com.
